What’s the program all about?

REAL Law & Community Advocacy is all about seeing something for yourself, forming your own opinion and making a real impact. Students will learn how things in our communities really work, how and why decisions get made, and participate in real-world decision making to create actual, longlasting change.

What will students learn?

Whether it’s voting on ideas for community improvement or participating in budgeting for the high school, students will learn the ins and outs of how things get done around them. In this program, students will actively partner with community leaders and work with government programs to enact real-world change.

What courses will students take?

REAL Law & Community Advocacy offers a variety of practical and real-world courses, including:

  • Civics with Generation Citizen

  • Participatory Budgeting

  • Youth and Law

  • EEP Law (3 credits)

What career opportunities does this provide?

Law & Community Advocacy applies to a variety of public service careers. Graduates of our program could go on to become:

  • Lawyers

  • Politicians

  • Community Advocates

And there are many other possible career paths in this field.
