Hello CFSD Families, As we are all concerned about the safety of our children, schools, and the City, we invite you to join Mayor Rivera, Superintendent Downey Toledo, and other community leaders for a conversation on keeping our children and community safer. Please bring your children; we will have a session with experts for them. Spanish and Portuguese Interpreters will be available. Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea honored 137 Rhode Island students at the 2022 Civic Leadership Awards earlier this month. These awards are given annually to recognize high school students who have made outstanding contributions to their schools and communities over the past year. The Central Falls High School winners are Roberto Portillo Avalos (not pictured) and Maribel Veiga! The Civic Leadership Awards were presented to students during a ceremony at the Rhode Island State House on Friday, May 13th, 2022. The event drew over 300 participants. “This year’s Civic Leadership Awards are a terrific opportunity to recognize Rhode Island’s young leaders,” said Secretary Gorbea. “Their spirit of civic engagement and demonstrated leadership are more proof that the future of our state is bright indeed. Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners and keep up the great work!” The Civic Leadership Awards are part of Secretary Gorbea’s mission to engage and empower Rhode Islanders by connecting them with their government and encouraging civic pride. Each year, high schools across Rhode Island are invited to nominate two students in the junior class who best meet the ideals of the Civic Leadership Award: public service, leadership ability, and academic achievement. This year, Secretary Gorbea received nominations from 70 schools across the state.

ALERT!!! Two of our students (Noelia & Evelin) are state champions in the EMT event of the HOSA competition. Central Falls High School Student Wins Rhode Island’s First Annual 17 and Under Chess Tournament Eric Benitez was the only student, of fourteen, to win all 4 chess games on April 18 th . Here he is pictured with Mathematics Prof. Jim Bishop of Bryant University receiving his award. This event was sponsored by the Providence Public Library and the Bryant University Council for Inclusive Excellence.
