Just a snap shot of the creative, collaborative, and verbal and non verbal communication skills on display in PE this week.
Students were asked to accept the challenge of bringing their peers across the gym. Each group collaborated effectively to choose a method of travel for each peer using weighted bars then chose a member to travel across the "ladder". The significance of the ladder tells the story of how taking your time to complete assignments is an effective way to achieve success. When groups rushed to be the first to finish, it never worked out for them. When they took their time, worked together and played close attention to details the outcome was a success. #PEsaveslives

Dear Ms. Vollucci and Artists,
I’m so pleased to let you know that the portraits you created were delivered to the children in Pakistan, and they absolutely loved them! As you will see in the following video, the children were so excited to receive your artwork and very touched by your efforts. They fully understood that creating the portraits was a way to show them how much you care about their well-being and their future.
Your students may be interested to know that they were joined in this effort by over three thousand young artists. Therefore, rather than focusing on any portraits individually, the purpose of this video is to share the collective joy and excitement of all the children together. We hope you enjoy it!

Congrats to the Boys and Girls Indoor Track & Field Teams in their performances at Division Championships.
On the Boys side, Helton Depina and Omar Benetiz Jr. Were the only 2 sophomores to place top 9 in the 300m dash. Both athletes hit personal best with 39.47 and 39.78 seconds to qualify them into Class B Championships this Saturday. To end the day, the same 2 athletes along with Junior: Luigy Taveras and Senior: Rui Varela Sanches earned 5th place in the 4x400m relay.
On the girls side Yageilys Galva and Katherine Rocha were among the top 4 sophomores to place in the top 8 for the 300m dash. A stellar performance came from the throwing team of Elaine Vaz Ramos, Eliane Chantre, and Alberli Hernandez who place 1st, 4th, and 6th with new lifetime bests in The Weight Throw and also qualifying them for the Small Class Championships this Saturday. Elaine not only earned 3rd place All Division in the shot-put but defended her Championship title in The Weight Throw with a mark that puts her in the Elite category for National throwers across the country.

Shout out to EDUARDO MORILLON who won a Scholastic Art Award Tuesday, Jan 14 for this gorgeous drawing! In the very competitive field of Drawing and Illustration, his work stood out and will be included in the Scholastic Art Awards Exhibit to be held at the Alex and Ani Art Gallery on the campus of Rhode Island College from January 19th - February 2nd, 2020. He will also be recognized at the Awards Ceremony on January 19th at 2:00 pm in Roberts Auditorium at RIC, along with the other winners from high schools across the state of RI.
Just announced: Dual Language Civics class wins the Systems Impact Award at Civics Day for their project on expanding access to financial aid for undocumented students.
"I think it is an amazing accomplishment for our school that out 400 judging scores not one but two Central Falls classes were recognized and awarded for their hard work. This work meant so much to my class, as the topic is deeply personal and relevant to all of their lives."

Members of the "How to Change the World " program made signs to designate 'safe' areas in the school to designate areas where LGBTQ+ students can feel safe and know that there are people there who are understanding, supportive, and trustworthy. These are rooms where they can ask for help, advice, or just to talk to someone who is supportive. The students then talked to teachers who then hung them up in their rooms.
Engineering 1 students show off 'Phone Thrones' that they designed using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printed to hold their phones.

Take a moment to congratulate CFHS Computer Science students on an amazing day! Our HS students worked tirelessly for 3 hours in various classrooms/grade levels/schools across CF, facilitating and mentoring the younger students of our district through the Hour of Code activities! They did a wonderful job! The classroom teachers had great things to say and the younger students all loved getting to spend time with the HSers!

After a long two weeks of training it is with great pleasure to announce the 2019-2020 Girls Varsity Basketball team. You may have seen them limp into classes with muscle soreness and fatigue or heard them talk about how much "pain" they are in from Lafreniere's BLUE LINE SPECIALS. However, each and every night they kept coming back and working even harder than the night before. Please congratulate the following players. Thanks goes out to the faculty for all the support. CFHS computer science students took a field trip to URI to experience a day in the life of a computer science major. While they were there they took a cyber security class and toured the campus.
