Central Falls Launches State’s First Teacher Apprenticeship Program!
The Central Falls School District proudly announces a historic achievement as it becomes home to the first two Teacher Apprentices in the state of Rhode Island, made possible through the USDOL Apprenticeships Build America 2 grant.
In partnership with Building Futures, The Institute for Labor Studies and Research, Rhode Island College, and with national support from AFL-CIO, NEA, and AFT, this new initiative exemplifies CFSD’s commitment to cultivating and retaining world-class educators through its Ecosystem of Talent.
This fall, two dedicated teacher assistants will begin their journey toward teacher certification:
Dolca Mendoza, from Raíces Dual Language Academy, will pursue certification in Early Childhood/BDL at Rhode Island College.
Rosa Goncalves, from Captain Hunt Early Learning Center, will pursue certification in Early Childhood/SPED at Rhode Island College.
“We’re proud to support educators at every stage of their journey,” said district officials. “This program not only uplifts individual careers—it strengthens our classrooms and our community.”
Congratulations to Rosa and Dolca for their continued growth and contributions. CFSD is proud to lead with innovation, equity, and excellence in educator development.
