Central Falls Public Schools’ Pre-K Program Receives 5 Star Recognition from Rating Agency

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. – The Margaret I. Robertson School located in Central Falls has achieved a 5 Star rating from BrightStars, and is now recognized for its ongoing efforts to provide high standards of early childhood education.  A BrightStars rating recognizes programs that demonstrate quality above and beyond foundational standards.

“We are passionate about providing high quality early education for the children and families we serve, and that’s why we are so excited to be recognized for that commitment,” said Beth Tanner, Principal of the Margaret I. Robertson School.  “We have achieved this 5 Star rating thanks to the incredible dedication of our teachers and staff, who work every day to make sure our youngest Central Falls students have the early education foundation they need for a lifetime of learning.”

The Margaret I. Robertson School and the Captain Hunt School currently house the 12 Early Childhood Program classrooms for preschoolers within the Central Falls School District. The Captain Hunt School is currently recognized with a 4 Star rating in Brightstars.

“I want to congratulate Principal Tanner, the teachers, and staff at the Margaret I. Robertson School for attaining a 5 Star rating from Bright Stars, but more importantly for creating a learning environment where our preschoolers can thrive,” said Victor Capellan, Superintendent of the Central Falls School District.  “The innovative, quality programming they have developed is part of our district’s redesign work, and we hope to duplicate these best practices across all of our early learning programs.”

In order to achieve a BrightStars rating, the program was assessed across many quality standards and criteria.  A BrightStars quality rating provides accurate, reliable information about program quality to families and the community.

“BrightStars raises the bar for early childhood and school-age programs in Rhode Island”, said Lisa Hildebrand, Executive Director of BrightStars. “Central Falls Public School’s BrightStars participation means that they are a key player in a statewide effort to ensure high-quality early childhood care and education for Rhode Island families.”
