Welcome to the Ella Risk Elementary School Library website. My name is Mrs. Degnan and I am the librarian here at Ella Risk. Do you know that I have almost 7,000 books in the library! WOW, that is a lot of books. Click on the “library catalog” below to see if we have your favorite book. Students come to the library once a week to borrow books, test on the computer and find information through various types of resources. Students are taught to be independent users of information in the library. They are able to borrow books of various genres to read for enjoyment and this appreciation for literature will help to develop a life long love of reading.
Clip off the little box top and bring it in to your teacher. Our library gets money for these.
We are collecting sooo many Box Tops! Thank you for helping! This year we have raised $325.00 so far and bought lots of new library books. WOW!
Reading on a regular basis is key for becoming a better reader. Students should be reading their library book each and every night. The AR program is a great motivational program that also holds the students accountable to read on a regular basis. Library books are labeled with colored stars that represent reading levels. Students in grade 1 use the program in the library. Students in grades 2-4 can participate in this program in their classroom where they may test on their library book every week. Each individual classroom teacher will decide whether or not to have their students participate in the AR program.
