Teacher's
Corner
"We are
the World" is the first thematic unit of the school year for a third grade
class. The unit covers the seven continents , the oceans and following
compass directions of North, South, East, West, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast
and Southwest. The class is made up of mainstream and special needs
children who are integrated throughout the day. Reading and math
instruction is given in homogeneous groups while all other instruction
is given in heterogeneous groups. Literature for this unit is multicultural.
This web page has been designed to be used by the children in this third
grade class. The goals of the page are to:
-
give the children an overview
of each continent.
-
provide the children with
multi-sensory input to make associations with the different continents.
-
introduce the children
to learning how to use a mouse and links on a web page.
-
provide the children with
links to more information on the continents that they will access in seven
small integrated groups.
