Reading Week at Cowden St. School

During a week in March, our school celebrated Reading Week with several activities.  One activity was to encourage each classroom to decorate their door with a nursery rhyme theme.  Below are some of the entries in that challenge.

Mrs. Hurley's class decorated their door to reflect a rewrite of There was an Old Woman.
Children is Mrs. Zakowski's class decorated their door with a rewrite of Jack and Jill.

Mrs. Zakowski's class went to Meetza,
To get a box of pizza.
They all fell down with laughter
And the pizza came tumbling after.

Mrs. Boyer's class illustrated
There Was an Old Woman.

There was an old woman
who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children
she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth
Without any bread
She kissed them all quickly
and put them to bed.

Mrs. Round and her First Graders decorated their door using a
Hey, Diddle, Diddle theme.
Mrs. Cockcroft's class chose a Nursery Rhyme to illustrate with found objects.

Wash the dishes,
Wipe the dishes,
Ring the bell for tea;
Three good wishes,
Three good kisses,
I will give to thee.

Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Duarte and
Ms. Lemire decorated their door with a coordinated theme of Hickory, Dickory, Dock.  The two doors are opposite each other and decorated with clocks.  Between the doors is a clothesline with the children in mice costumes running up and down the clock.
