Adventure Education

The Central Falls Adventure Education Program provides specific activities, games, and events that help to enhance both life and educational skills in an atmosphere that is challenging, educational, and fun. The majority of activities are not teacher led; however, they are teacher facilitated. This means that the teacher provides the scenario or instructions for the game/activity and then monitors the students in order to maintain a safe environment. The facilitation process allows students to collectively problem-solve to overcome challenges. Through this process, the students will become more aware of their self-worth and develop the skills necessary to achieve success in the classroom as well as the real world. Students who participate in the program should expect to:

  • Develop a sense of trust within the group.
  • Develop individual and group problem solving skills.
  • Develop stronger self-esteem and self-worth qualities (recognize and value their strengths and weaknesses).
  • Develop leadership skills.
  • Develop communication and active listening skills.
  • Develop a sense of respect and value for individual differences.
  • Develop and recognize unknown creative qualities that they possess.
  • Develop agility, physical coordination skills, and a value for physical activity as it pertains to stress relief and overall well-being.
