Leaders from the Central Falls School District and six charter school organizations serving Central Falls students and families have signed on to a District-Charter Collaboration Compact, an initiative to highlight new ways that public charter schools and traditional public schools are working to provide a high-quality education for all students. Central Falls, R.I., joins a small group of leading cities that have developed such agreements. Central Falls, Boston and Sacramento, are part of the second cohort of District-Charter Compact agreements recognized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Nine other cities announced similar partnerships in December 2010, including: Baltimore, Md., Denver, Colo., Hartford, Conn., Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Minn., Nashville, Tenn., New Orleans, La., New York City and Rochester, N.Y.
