Capital Facilities Improvement Plan
The Central Falls School District’s educational facilities are owned by the City of Central Falls and all operations of the District are funded by the State of Rhode Island. When repairs and renovations are necessary, the City of Central Falls receives a 94% reimbursement rate from the State for that work. Within the last two fiscal years approximately $2M for has been used for such repairs. However, even with the amount of repairs completed and the high reimbursement rate,Central Falls school buildings continue to require substantial emergency and routine repairs. A long-range Facilities Master Plan was created to prioritize and streamline these repairs.
Inclement Weather
For student and employee safety, Central Falls Public Schools delays school start times, or does not open schools at all, when there’s extreme weather conditions — usually, ice or snow. Weather conditions are seldom the only factor that enters into the decision to delay or cancel school. Other factors such as parking bans, road condition, and bussing also play important roles in making such decisions.
