In Appreciation for this Opportunity to Serve You

Do your ears hear the beat of the drum I hear? In a steady tattoo of the drum, my ears ring with the cries of children who are hungry. I hear hate-filled words repeated over and over from the mouths of all colors and every age. Sometimes, the beat is heard in silence. This is when I see the blank looks of young children starved for affection and the desolate stare of the elderly abandoned and lonely. I am haunted by such things every day.

So what? How is this relevant to the work as Superintendent of Central Falls Schools?

I believe that we, all, every citizen of the world, have a responsibility to work to eradicate such sights and sounds. As an educator, this responsibility is heightened tremendously. Education is the master key to success. Education is the vaccine against hunger, hatred, intolerance, and loneliness. Knowing this and calling myself an educator places awesome responsibility upon my shoulders. This is a seriously responsibility indeed.

As an educational leader and practitioner, I value and esteem group work. The sum of the work of the individuals in the group is always more dynamic that the sum of individual work. I believe in being proactive, expecting and setting the stage for win-win situations. I know who I am. I plan and accomplish things everyday. I know how to relax and I know how to respond to a crisis. I am efficient, not flowery. I speak in straight lines without a hidden agenda. I admit what I do not know; but I question, observe, work, and read to fill in such gaps.

Thank you for this continuous opportunity to serve the people of Central Falls through the position of Superintendent of Central Falls Schools.

Sincerely,
Frances Gallo
